Behavior
The Buffalamma exhibits a fascinating blend of its progenitors' temperaments. While generally docile and capable of forming small, tight-knit family units, it can display the formidable protectiveness of a buffalo when threatened, often engaging in impressive bluff charges. It retains the llama's uncanny sure-footedness on uneven terrain, making it an excellent pack animal in its native range, albeit one with a more substantial load capacity.
Primarily dwelling in temperate montane grasslands and open forest fringes, the Buffalamma is a grazer that thrives on tough mountain grasses and shrubbery. They are active during the day, spending most of their time foraging, but will seek shelter in rocky alcoves or dense thickets during harsh weather. Their thick, shaggy coat provides excellent insulation against both cold mountain nights and warm, windy days, allowing them to traverse varied altitudes with ease.
