Jellywhisk

The Jellywhisk is a remarkably serene and solitary creature, often seen drifting lazily through the water column. Its movements are graceful, propelled by rhythmic pulsations of its bell-like body, allowing it to navigate silently. Despite its tranquil appearance, it possesses an intricate sensory system thanks to its highly sensitive barbels and mild stinging tentacles, which it uses to locate prey and deter potential threats. It's generally non-aggressive towards larger creatures unless provoked or feeling threatened.

Preferring the cool, oxygen-rich waters of deep lakes, the Jellywhisk often hides among submerged logs and dense beds of aquatic plants during the day, becoming more active at dusk and dawn. Its translucent, mottled skin provides excellent camouflage against the dappled light of its environment. It establishes a foraging territory but does not typically interact with others of its kind outside of a brief, enigmatic mating season, making sightings rare and highly sought after by cryptozoolgists.
