Behavior
Shewls are solitary, crepuscular creatures, emerging at dusk to graze on tender shoots and roots in high-altitude meadows. Despite their sheep-like wool, they possess the silent flight of an owl, allowing them to traverse their terrain unnoticed. They are highly territorial, especially during breeding season, and communicate through a series of soft hoots mixed with bleats.
Their dense, woolly feathers provide excellent insulation against the cold mountain nights, while their large, forward-facing eyes give them exceptional low-light vision for hunting small ground-dwelling invertebrates and rodents. During the day, they often roost in rocky crevices or dense thickets, their mottled wool blending seamlessly with the environment, making them incredibly difficult to spot.
