Lupantis

The Lupantis is a solitary and highly efficient ambush predator, combining the keen senses and stealth of a wolf with the lightning-fast reflexes and camouflage of a mantis. It stalks its prey silently through dense undergrowth, its wolf-like ears swiveling to pinpoint the slightest rustle, before adopting a static, mantis-like posture, perfectly blending into its surroundings. When the moment is right, it unleashes a terrifying burst of speed, ensnaring its victim with powerful, serrated forelimbs before delivering a decisive bite with its wolfen jaws.

They establish vast territories, marked by scent and occasional deep howls that carry an unsettling, chitinous echo. Lupantises are primarily nocturnal hunters, preferring the cover of darkness to exploit their superior night vision. They typically den in rocky crevices or abandoned bear caves, lining their nests with dry leaves and the shed exoskeletons of their previous molts, a process they undergo roughly once a year during their younger years.
