The Batigator is a crepuscular and nocturnal predator, employing its powerful, leathery wings to glide silently over swamps, rivers, and dense jungles. It hunts by swooping down on unsuspecting fish or land animals, snatching them with its powerful jaws and sharp teeth before returning to its aerial perch or roost. Unlike true crocodiles, it is less ambush-oriented from water, preferring the element of aerial surprise.
During the day, Batigators retreat to the safety of large, damp cave systems or dense, high canopies, where they hang upside down by their formidable hind claws, often camouflaged amongst stalactites or thick foliage. They are generally solitary creatures, only coming together briefly during mating season. Their calls are a series of clicks and low growls, used for echolocation and territorial warnings, echoing through their roosts and hunting grounds.
