Elephly

The Elephly is a creature of immense grace, despite its substantial size. They are largely solitary, spending their days gliding effortlessly through the upper canopy and across mountain peaks on their colossal, iridescent wings. Their short, dexterous trunks are perfectly adapted to probe the deepest nectaries of giant blossoms, and they use their large, sensitive antennae to navigate and detect specific floral scents from miles away. During mating season, males perform elaborate aerial ballets, showcasing their wing patterns in dazzling displays to attract a mate, often accompanied by a soft, resonant hum produced by their wingbeats.

Primarily active during daylight hours, Elephlies will descend to lower altitudes or sheltered clearings at dusk to rest amongst large, flat-leafed plants, often camouflaging their wings against the foliage. They are migratory, following the blooming cycles of their preferred high-altitude flora, which can take them across vast distances. Despite their peaceful nature, they are fiercely territorial, especially around their favored feeding grounds, and will use their powerful wing-generated air currents to deter rivals or predators, though actual physical confrontation is rare.
